You won’t believe these obvious TV mistakes!
As the old saying goes, everybody makes mistakes. We know, we shouldn’t dwell on them. But when it comes to the almighty wizards who make our favourite TV programmes, we expect perfection. Under scrutiny by hundreds of thousands of viewers, even the tiniest of plot holes and continuity errors can become a pretty big deal. So without sounding like the pettiest people on the planet, here are some of the most fascinatingly obvious mistakes we’ve noticed in our hours upon hours of TV viewing so far. Sorry not sorry!
Season 3, Episode 5 – “And the Wiener is…”
Just before Peter enters the tunnel in his new car, the white line in the middle of the road is dashed. When the shot changes to Peter’s POV, the line has completely disappeared. If that weren’t enough, the line then reappears as one continuous strip in the next frame. Huh?!
Season 7, Episode 16 – “Something About Dr. Mary”
Like a rookie error committed by a kid bunking off school, we suspect Daphne might be faking her wrist injury when we notice her brace jumps between her left and right arms in different scenes of this episode. You’re not fooling us, Ms Moon!
Season 1, Episode 1 – “Cartman Gets an Anal Probe”
See the poster of Christopher Columbus on the back wall of the kids’ classroom? Now see how it’s magically changed to a photo of an astronaut? And how the dinosaur pictured next to it has grown spikes on its back? And how the girls seated behind Butters transform into Wendy and disappear respectively? We could play a whole game of spot the difference with these two frames!
How I Met Your Mother
Season 5, Episode 14 – “The Perfect Week”
Remember how Lily and Marshall claim they’ve been sharing the same toothbrush ever since they’ve been together? Then how is it that they’re seen simultaneously brushing their teeth with a separate toothbrush each in this scene? We need answers!
Season 2, Episode 7 – “The One Where Ross Finds Out”
Super cute necklace, Rachel – but where did it suddenly appear from?! Oh how we wish we could magic up jewellery at whim… We’d never have to risk being under-accessorised again.
We know the opening sequence of The Simpsons is full of gags, but this detail seems like a straight up mistake. Did that rake go to the same place where those boxes magically showed up from?
The Big Bang Theory
Season 7, Episode 11 – “The Cooper Extraction”
Are our eyes failing us from too many hours of TV viewing, or did that line on the whiteboard just transform from black to blue? We’re sure Sheldon could come up with some theory explaining its colour change, but we’ll assume it’s an error.
Stay tuned for more, as we’ve got plenty more TV mistakes to spoil you with.
