X Factor’s Sharon Osbourne responds to accusations about her drinking on the job
Sharon Osbourne has denied claims that she has been drunk during the X Factor live shows.
X Factor judge Sharon Osbourne has recently opened herself up to criticism after temporarily forgetting the name of her own act, Saara Aalto.
Sharon’s erratic behaviour on the show was already sparking rumours about potential alcohol consumption, but the name slip-up last weekend has only added fuel to the fire.
However, Mrs. O has hit back at the allegations that she was drunk during the show.
Speaking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Sharon confessed: “Do you know what it is I am terrible with names… Oh my lord maybe if I did have a drink I would remember people’s names.
“Each week they keep saying she’s on the bottle. Yeah the milk bottle maybe!”
Instead, the show’s judge put her momentary confusion down to the fact that she is just “a bit dotty”.
She assured viewers at home that the error was not a drunken one: “As far as names I am the worst in my head… It is just me I am a bit dotty. Drinking, no.”
She added: “I was thinking about something else. I wish I could come up with a better excuse… I was thinking about songs, and I wondered what that jukebox is going to land on, what are we going to do next week and then I’m like ‘oh she’s in the bottom two again’.
“All of this is going on in my head, and then they go ‘it’s you it’s you’ and ‘I’m like what? What am I doing?’”
Sharon narrowly escaped losing one of the singers in her category on Sunday, as Saara Aalto found herself in the bottom two once again. However, it was Freddy Parker who failed to impress the judges, and so Saara lives to sing another day.
Will she be able to hang on for yet another week?
X Factor continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
