X Factor’s Emily Middlemas reveals details about her first live performance
Quirky acoustic singer Emily Middlemas has revealed her plans for her first live show performance.
The X Factor live shows begin tomorrow evening, and the first theme for the contestants to tackle is ‘Express Yourself’. The 12 finalists are expected to put on a performance that showcases who they are as artists, selecting a musical number that expresses their own personal style.
Emily, from Simon Cowell’s Girls category, has spilled the beans on her song of choice. The 17-year-old will be fighting for the public’s votes with her rendition of “Toxic” by Britney Spears, and we are sure the Scottish contestant will be putting her own original spin on the well-known pop song.
Emily is clearly feeling optimistic about her upcoming performance. She said: “I’m so excited. I’m really confident with the song I’ve been given and I’m sticking to what I normally do, so I’ve got my guitar and I’m changing it up to make it my own.”
She added: “I just hope the viewers keep me in so they can see what else I can do.”
The X Factor finalist also reminisced about her first ever appearance on the show back in 2014. At the young age of 15, Middlemas was knocked out by Cheryl at the Judges’ Houses, denying her the chance to sing at the Live Shows.
However, two years later the singer admits that it was the right decision: “One hundred per cent [Cheryl was right]. At the time I was devastated, but I said I’d come back in two years and I have – and I’m so happy.”
Emily has grown both in confidence and as an artist now, and was able to easily secure her place in the live finals with Simon this time around: “I feel more confident in myself because I’ve found my style and who I am.”
“Two years ago, I didn’t know much about music, but since then I’ve been writing and been all over the UK doing gigs.”
Emily and the other 11 hopeful contestants will take to the stage tomorrow night for the live shows and we can’t wait to see what the rest of them have in store.
