X Factor’s Emily Middlemas blames Simon Cowell for her exit
X Factor‘s latest departee Emily Middlemas has slammed her mentor Simon Cowell for never giving her any upbeat song choices.
On Sunday night Emily became the latest contestant to be eliminated from the singing competition, meaning she just missed out on making the X Factor final. The quirky singer was voted into the bottom two where she was forced to face the sing-off against Matt Terry. Unfortunately for Emily, Matt gave one hell of a performance of Christina Aguilera’s “Hurt”, leading three out of the four judges to send her home.
She told the Metro newspaper: “Before the show, that was me. I was more quirky, upbeat and more fun, I guess. I don’t really know what happened.
“Every single week I’d try and get my voice heard. And I always said ‘I really wanna do something upbeat. I wanna do this! I wanna dance around the stage.
“I wanted to show the younger audience that I’m young, that this is me, that there is another side to me. But yeah, Simon just wasn’t all for it, really. He didn’t ‘see’ any of the things I suggested.”
Emily revealed to the paper that she had requested to sing Ellie Goulding’s “Anything Could Happen” and “Lush Life” by Zara Larsson, but her suggestions were ignored by the X Factor team.
However, Emily still insisted that her time on the X Factor was a positive one: “I did enjoy it, I did enjoy it. I’m not gonna lie and say I hated it.”
Matt Terry, Saara Aalto and 5 After Midnight will be singing to win this weekend as we head to Wembley for the X Factor final!
X Factor continues Saturday at 8pm on ITV.
