X Factor contestant Freddy Parker escaped prison sentence after drink driving car crash
Last weekend, X Factor singer, Freddy Parker, was allowed through to the Judges’ Houses by Nicole Scherzinger, despite having messed up his audition in the Six Chair Challenge with his performance of Calvin Harris’ “How Deep Is Your Love”. Nicole threw him a lifeline in asking Freddy to go to the piano and perform his first audition song: “Love Is A Losing Game” by Amy Winehouse.
Clearly one for being allowed second chances, Freddy revealed this week that he was once caught drink-driving after having crashed his car over the alcohol limit. He confessed that he was able to escape a sentence by taking a drink-driving course in February, and he also received a nine month driving ban which was reduced from the original 12 months. He admitted, “I was at a party with my mates. We all crashed out. I woke up and me and my mate wanted to go home.”
“I thought I was OK, but I never stopped to think about whether I was over the limit. We were about two minutes from home, I went round a bend and skidded into a ditch.”
“I don’t know how but the car was written off. I called my mum and she told me to walk home and we would talk about it when I got home.”
“As I walked half way up my drive the police arrived, they did a roadside drink test and nothing came up, so they arrested me for failing to give a specimen. They took me to the police station and I gave a urine test and I was over the limit.”
Let’s hope he has learnt his lesson.
