Which Game of Thrones stars have just signed for an eighth (and final?) season?
Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Lena Headey have reportedly signed on for Game of Thrones Seasons 7 and 8.
According to Deadline, the actors who play Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister and Cersei Lannister respectively are confirmed to return to the HBO show with raised salaries of over $500,000 an episode. However, the higher pay per episode could indicate shorter seasons.
While HBO has not specified the size of the order for Season 7, speculation has been that both Season 7 and Season 8 will be shorter than the show’s standard run of 10 episodes a piece; possibly seven episodes in Season 7 and six episodes in Season 8.
We’re yet to hear confirmation about other cast members not listed above, including Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner and Natalie Dormer.
Of course, the signed contracts we do know about do not guarantee that our favourite characters will survive the full seasons. The final episodes of the story are yet to be written, so the fates of Tyrion, Daenerys and the gang is anyone’s guess at this point.
