The Voice UK: Tom Jones Out Paloma Faith & Boy George In
It’s confirmed, Sir Tom Jones has left The Voice UK and Boy George and Paloma Faith will be joining the next series.
They will join returning coaches Ricky Wilson and will.i.am on the revamped panel, after Rita Ora left recently to join The X Factor and Jones, who has been a judge on the panel since the first series, decided to leave.
Boy George, on his position, said: “I’m thrilled and excited to be a coach on The Voice UK.
“I’m a huge fan of the show and have watched and engaged with it from series one.
“If I can help someone to win I will be delighted. What a wonderful opportunity to share my experiences and help someone move forward with their musical career. I can’t wait to sit in that chair!”
Meanwhile, Faith boasted of her previous experience of breaking stars, saying: “I’m really excited about working with creative people who are there not just to be great singers, but also innovative personalities and performers.
“I have a long history of helping break artists as in my club nights I booked Kate Nash, Adele, and The Noisettes before they hit the big time and four of my band members have gone on to pursue successful solo careers.
“I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth into something that cultivates the talents of another person and takes the focus off myself for a bit.”
Similarly, Kaiser Chiefs star Wilson said: “I’m thrilled to be returning to The Voice UK as the coach of last series winning performer Stevie, but with Paloma Faith and Boy George on board this series is going to be the hardest one yet.
“The pressure is definitely on, and I know Will will come out with all generic electronic tablets blazing.”
The front man, then added: “Fun fact: Paloma and I worked together for years in a bar up North. She just texted me to say she’ll see me in the big red chairs and her number still came up as ‘Work Paloma’, I can’t wait to start working with her again but this time but she made me promise not to make her carry any beer barrels.
“It’s going to be tough without Sir Tom as my Obi Wan Kr-Jonesey, but Culture Club’s Colour By Numbers was the first album I ever owned and having met George a couple of times there’s never a dull moment with him. That will no doubt make for an unpredictable and thrilling series.”
Faith and George will join Wilson and will.i.am in Manchester to film the blind auditions next month, while Emma Willis and Marvin Humes will return to host the show for a third series.
The Voice UK will return with its fifth series in January 2016.
