Star Wars: The Force Awakens is Coming to Europe First
It’s another point for the UK in the UK vs. USA battle for cinema domination after its been announced that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released in the UK and the rest of Europe before the US.
The eagerly anticipated instalment to the Star Wars franchise will hit U.S. theatres on December 18 of this year, but is set to open in some markets as early as December 15 meaning that European Star Wars fans will be able to see the seventh film ahead of the United States.
The news arrived on Monday via the official U.K. Twitter page of Star Wars: The Force Awakens which – in a similar style to Jurassic World – tweeted an official 100-day countdown to its December 17th release date, in contradiction to the American release date.
But its not all good news for British Galaxy fans, as in France, Italy and several other European countries, the movie will debut on December 16, with the Middle Eastern market winning the earliest opening for the film after its been revealed that The United Arab Emirates will screen it as early as December 15.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens stars British newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega, alongside Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie, Comedian Simon Pegg, and Harry Potter actor Domnhall Gleeson, in addition to bringing back Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, who will reprise their roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, respectively.
So, for those in Britain seeking a galaxy far far away, keep December 17th pencilled in the diary, ‘cos Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be coming to a cinema near you.
