Showrunner Scott Gimple hints Rick Grimes could die in The Walking Dead season 8
The Walking Dead‘s Scott Gimple has suggested that the show’s main man could well be in danger in the upcoming season.
The showrunner has revealed that Alexandria’s leader Rick Grimes may just sacrifice his own life in order to take down the Saviors and give his people the life they deserve.
Referring to the all-out battle ahead, Gimple told TVLine: “Rick will suffer any loss, even his own self.
“[He will suffer any loss] to give his people and other people the life that they should live, where the world belongs to all of them and not just one person. A real life.
“That’s the only choice. So he’s willing to face the losses.”
Negan spared Rick’s life on more than one occasion during the course of season seven, instead opting to mentally crack his opponent by killing and torturing his friends and family. However, this did not work out favourably for the villain as Rick’s defiance soon resurfaced stronger than ever. Moving forward, will Negan now ditch his torment tactics and wipe out his challengers straight off the bat?
Last week, Chandler Riggs tweeted about the new script and, if his enthusiastic reaction is anything to go by, we should expect season eight to kick off with a bang.
The Carl actor tweeted: “just finished reading 801 of twd and oooo man it’s good”.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed that shooting for the upcoming season will begin tomorrow (April 25) and no doubt the cast are excited as we are to discover how the looming war will unfold.
The Walking Dead season 8 is expected to return October 2017 to FOX in the UK.
