Sharon Osbourne reveals the reason she and Simon Cowell no longer feud on X Factor
The return of Sharon Osbourne to the judging panel has brought something we really didn’t expect – a kind of calm peace between her and Simon Cowell.
Long-time fans of the show will remember that when Osbourne and Cowell both sat on the panel during the earlier days of The X Factor, they clashed frequently over acts and judgements – and sometimes explosively.
Now, Osbourne has revealed what she thinks the reason for the change is: neither party has such a “big ego” in 2016.
Speaking to The Sun, Osbourne revealed: “We first worked together 13 years ago when I was all prickly and had a big ego – so did Simon.
“You change. Now, I say to him, ‘Shut up.’ And he goes to me, ‘Shut up.’ Then you have a laugh about it.
“Back then I was like, ‘Don’t you know who I am?’ It was the same with him. We both had egos but you grow up.
“It’s like how people say if you’re the same person you are at 20 when you are at 50 then you’ve wasted your life.
“You change and you grow and the things that rattled your cage 13 years ago don’t rattle your cage anymore.”
Osbourne was an original judge on Cowell’s popular talent series, appearing alongside Cowell and fellow original judge Louis Walsh for three seasons between 2004 and 2007. She later returned for a one-season stint in 2013, while Cowell was taking a break from the show.
Cowell has appeared on ten series of the X Factor, from 2004 to 2011, after which he left to promote and appear on The X Factor USA. He returned to the British show in 2014.
