See Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria in new ITV trailer
Anyone who doubted that Doctor Who‘s Jenna Coleman would make a stunning Queen Victoria can hush up and go home now.
ITV has today released the first teaser for its upcoming 8-part drama, Victoria, which follows the early life of the iconic queen, from her accession to the throne at the tender age of 18, through to her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.
Coleman’s involvement in the role was confirmed last September, when it was announced she would be leaving her role as the Time Lord’s assistant Clara Oswald on Doctor Who in exchange for this new £10 million deal, meaning the first look video has been a long time coming.
“I know that I am young, but I am ready for the great responsibility that lies before me”, the 18-year-old Victoria (ie. 29-year-old Coleman) says in a posh accent fit for a royal. The Man in the High Castle‘s Rufus Sewell also gets a peek in.
Frustratingly, the teaser isn’t accompanied by a date announcement, however we know that the series will open with a 90-minute episode, followed by 7 x one-hour episodes, some time this year. Stay tuned as we’ll be bringing more news on Victoria as it happens!
