Three More Prometheus Movies?!
Why Ridley Scott? Why? To many the idea of more Prometheus movies is a cause for celebration, but the rumours that Scott may be looking to do three more is almost too much.
The Alien director has recently revealed that there could be as many as three more sequels to his 2012 sci-fi blockbuster Prometheus, with Scott citing that with Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender’s body-less android returning for further space-set adventures in the immediate sequel, it will be a while before there are any further sightings of the Xenomorph.
Speaking to FilmFutter, the director said: “It won’t be in the next one. It will be in the one after this one or maybe even a fourth film before we get back into the Alien franchise.”
So, not only will Prometheus be dragged at, but fans can look forward to ANOTHER Alien. But with that being a long way off, Scott further elaborated on his approach to the Prometheus films, which take place in the world he kick-started with 1979’s Alien.
“The whole point of it is to explain the Alien franchise and to explain the how and why of the creation of the Alien itself,” he explained. “I always thought of the Alien as kind of a piece of bacterial warfare.
“I always thought that that original ship, which I call the Croissant, was a battleship, holding these biomechanoid creatures that were all about destruction.”
Due to this, the immediate sequel to Prometheus – Prometheus 2 – will reportedly contain an entirely new breed of alien monster, taking the franchise into a whole new field before returning to its roots with Neill Blomkamp’s proposed Alien sequel, which will bring back Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and which is also on the horizon but reportedly experiencing delays due to Scott’s (rather overwhelming) Prometheus plans.
But either way gang, the Alien/Prometheus franchise is sadly not over, so fans around the world can rejoice that Scott is not finished with you yet.
Prometheus 2 is due in cinemas in 2017 .
