Pregnant Ferne McCann breaks down on This Morning over ex-boyfriend Arthur Collins’ arrest
Ferne McCann has finally broken her silence since announcing the news of her pregnancy with Arthur Collins’ child.
The former TOWIE star appeared on This Morning today (Thursday, May 11) to give her first interview since the dramatic events of last month were reported. Arthur was arrested and charged in relation to the acid attack in London at the end of April and shortly after Ferne announced the news that she was also pregnant with his baby.
After laying low for weeks, an emotional Ferne returned to the ITV studio to give fans an explanation. Presenter Holly Willoughby hugged the Celebs Go Dating star as she began to tearfully describe the dramatic events of the last few weeks.
She said: “It has been such a stressful, surreal situation to be in that. I’m actually feeling good and positive because I’m pregnant that has given me strength and hope to get through this.”
When Holly asked her it felt to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time at her scan, Ferne replied: “It was a massive relief. Leading up to that point, you’re thinking I hope everything is OK with the baby. It’s just a magical moment – it’s mental, being pregnant.”
Revealing how difficult the first few weeks of her pregnancy were, Ferne joked that she’d had “all-day sickness”.
She continued: “I’ve had all the symptoms – started off with the nausea, then the crazy headaches that led to vomiting, the morning sickness. I don’t know why they call it morning sickness, because I’ve been sick morning, noon and night. But I’m feeling good.”
Getting emotional, the star said: “This isn’t how I imagined my first pregnancy to be, but it’s not about me, it’s about this baby.
“My main concern and priority is the baby.”
Ferne broke down as she began to describe the support from the public during her tough time. She said: “Reading through the private messages on Instagram has been so touching and so humbling.
“That is what I’m so grateful for, everyone’s words; from single mothers, to single fathers, to people that have followed my career, to people that have never even seen me on TV.”
After taking a moment to calm down, Ferne was asked by Holly and Phillip Schofield whether she wants to know the sex of her unborn baby.
“I’m completely undecided!” she confessed. “I’m quite an impatient person, but now I’m in the situation I’m thinking it will be such a lovely surprise.”
Ferne ended the interview on an optimistic note, admitting she is looking forward to her future as a parent.
“I’m just so looking forward to it – I can’t wait to meet my baby. It’s not going to be easy but I’m going to be the best possible mum I can be.”
