Piers Morgan lashes out at Love Island “cretins”
Reality TV fans might have all cleared their diaries for another summer of Love Island, but there’s one person who certainly won’t be tuning in.
Speaking on Good Morning Britain today, Piers Morgan expressed his horror at the fact a brand new season of the ITV2 show will be kicking off tonight (June 4).
“Love Island! Oh yes, yes, YES!”, he cheered sarcastically. “The biggest collection of brain deficient half-wits in the world, amassed once more on an island where they can objectify themselves, in semi-nudity, to their heart’s content.”
“You may wonder what kind of cretins are in there this year,” Piers continued, before giving up and crying: “I can’t deal with this, how long is this on for?
“Eight weeks of these people!”
Turning to his co-hosts Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins, he asked: “You two are intelligent people – why would you watch this?”
“I get dating tips from it,” Susanna replied.
Piers shot back: “What possible dating tips could you get from this?!”
“I can confidently predict these will be the worst eight weeks of my life.”
“It’s entertaining! It’s funny,” said Susanna. “The interactions between the couples are hilarious!”
“What interactions?” Piers asked. “‘Oh, she’s a sort, she’s pretty hot.'”
Love Island begins tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays at 6:30am on ITV.
