Piers Morgan criticises I’m A Celeb winner Scarlett Moffat
Scarlett Moffat has won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, and Piers Morgan is not happy about it.
The Gogglebox star was crowned Queen of the Jungle last night (December 5), ahead of semi-finalists Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas. As the breakout star of this year’s I’m A Celeb, fans celebrated in their droves at the result – but Piers Morgan was not amongst them.
Speaking this morning on Good Morning Britain, where he acts as host, Morgan said: “Someone I’ve never heard of with other people I’ve never heard of walking about TV has won I’m a Celebrity, therefore becoming a celebrity.”
He continued: “I don’t know anything about her, this Scarlett Moffatt character.
“I’m not sure what it all means about the future of the world when people who are famous for watching telly end up winning the biggest shows on telly and become celebrities.
“I can’t believe she’s in there either – what’s she in there for?”
Morgan’s co-host Susanna Reid tried to jump to Moffat’s defence, explaining that she had earned her celebrity status from her performances on Gogglebox.
However, Morgan dismissed this, countering with: “She’s not a superstar though is she?”
If Piers Morgan is hoping for every single member of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp to be global superstars, he is going to be waiting a very long time indeed.
