Nadiya Hussain to judge Junior Bake Off
Last year’s Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain is set to go back into the tent of treats in a whole new capacity when she embarks on the role as a judge on Junior Bake Off.
The CBBC companion show to Mary and Paul’s full-sized Bake Off will see 40 contestants between the ages of 9 and 12 putting their culinary skills to the test. The youngsters will face two different challenges over a series of ten heats, making cakes, biscuits and pastries. The challenges will include the Technical Bake and the Showstopper from the GBBO format, after which forty will become just four for the final.
Nadiya said: “This time last year I was in the Bake Off tent and now I get to go back and help encourage the next generation to get their bake on. I am so excited to have this opportunity.”
Executive producer Susanne Rock said: “As the winner of last year’s Great British Bake Off, Nadiya proved herself to be one of the most talented, committed and hard-working bakers the tent has ever seen.”
Whether Nadiya will end up being more emotional than the young hopefuls she judges is yet to be seen, but highly likely.
While an air date for Junior Bake Off is yet to be confirmed, the regular show will air on BBC One at 8pm from August 24th.
