Martin Freeman joins ‘Captain America: Civil War’
It has been confirmed that Martin Freeman will join his Sherlock partner Benedict Cumberbatch in the Marvel Universe.
Adding to his blockbuster resumé after his starring role as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit film trilogy, Freeman is set to appear in the much anticipated Captain America: Civil War in a role that is yet to be announced.
Producer Kevin Feige said of Freeman: “From his roles as Bilbo Baggins and Doctor Watson to Tim in The Office, Martin’s range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us.
“We couldn’t be more honoured or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
The film, which is set to open on May 6th 2016, will explore the 2006–2007 Marvel Comics crossover storyline which sees Captain America facing off against Iron Man over the U.S. government’s new “Superhero Registration Act”. We wonder which side Martin’s character will be on!
