Louise Redknapp confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing
Former pop star Louise Redknapp is the latest celebrity confirmed for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
After plentiful rumours about Redknapp’s participation on the BBC reality series, Redknapp announced the news while talking to Steve Wright on his BBC Radio 2 show this afternoon. It was shortly confirmed on the official Strictly Come Dancing Twitter account.

Redknapp said she had always been a fan of the series, and that husband Jamie Redknapp was mortified at the news his wife would be taking part in the programme.
Speaking to Wright, Redknapp said: “I’ve always loved the programme, it’s great family viewing. I never thought I’d do it, I’m not sure how I’m here…
“My husband is laughing at me he’s mortified. He’s like, ‘Whoever you get as a partner I feel sorry for them’. When I met Jamie I was out there in music singing and dancing, so I’m hoping he’s just going to be proud.
“I just don’t want to embarrass myself and my family. I’ve just got to get out there and do my best and I’m hoping he’ll be proud.”
Redknapp is most famous for performing in 90s girl group Eternal, with whom she achieved a quadruple-platinum album in Always & Forever in 1993. Redknapp left the group for a successful solo career in 1996 and has sold over 15 million records in the UK.
Despite her dancing experience from her pop career and stage training, Redknapp insists she is no more advantaged than other contestants, telling Wright: “I did tap and ballet until I was 16, and then I went into Eternal where we did lots of hand clapping and lots of running man.
“And you don’t really have to remember the whole routine because if you forget something you can walk off and be like ‘come on cheer’. I’ve not been in a dance studio since I recorded Naked 20 years ago.”
