Lindsay Lohan’s Instagram suggests she has converted to Islam
Lindsay Lohan has implied that she has become Muslim after deleting all pictures from her Instagram account and writing “Alaikum salam” in her bio.
After revealing that she had read the Qu’ran in 2015 and setting up a production company in Dubai last year, Lindsay Lohan’s representatives have told the Muslim Council that she is “in a period of renewal”.
The actress has already spoken about how she identifies with the religion in the past, admitting that Islam is ‘who she is’.
Talking on the Turkish TV show Haber Turk, she said: “My very close friends, who have been there for me a lot, in London are Saudi and they gave me the Qu’ran and I brought it to New York because I was learning.
“It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am.”
Since this revelation, the Mean Girls star has worked with refugees in Abu Dhabi and Syria, and has also spoken about the positive influence of her Muslim friends Karen Wazen Bakhazi and Joelle Mardinian.
The speculation that Lindsay might have turned to a new religion seemed confirmed when she deleted all of her posts on Instagram and instead left the words “Alaikum salam”, meaning “Peace be upon you”.
Many Muslims have already tweeted the star, welcoming her to Islam:
