Kit Harington confirms Jon Snow IS in Game of Thrones season six
Kit Harington has confirmed that he has filmed new scenes for the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones. The catch? He will be appearing as a corpse.
In an interview with Time Out about his role in the upcoming West End production of Doctor Faustus, Harington was again asked what is likely his least favourite question ever – what of Jon Snow’s fate?
Harington said: “Look, I’m not in the show any more. I’m definitely not in the new series.”
When pressed on whether he had filmed any scenes for the sixth season, Harington admitted: “I filmed some scenes of me being dead.”
He then jokily added: “It’s some of my best work.”
Fans and the media have been speculating about the fate of Kit Harington’s fan favourite character Jon Snow since the shocking fifth season cliffhanger which saw Snow lying in a pool of his own blood after being repeatedly stabbed by mutinous members of the Night’s Watch. While this death sounds rather certain on paper, Game of Thrones has been known for throwing curveballs – notably what appears to be the Frankenstein-esque resurrection of Lannister ally The Mountain.
Some fans insist Snow will be resurrected by the Red Priestess Melisandre, who is thought to have the ability to bring the dead back to life and conveniently happens to be at the scene of Snow’s death in Castle Black. Others have suggested Snow will “warg” into the body of his direwolf companion Ghost, after brother Bran has shown an aptitude for controlling the minds of others.
Jon Snow’s fate will finally be revealed when Game of Thrones returns on April 22 at 2am on Sky Atlantic.
