Kim Woodburn reveals she was sexually abused by her father on Loose Women
Celebrity Big Brother‘s Kim Woodburn has opened up about her history with sexual abuse.
The How Clean Is Your House star made an appearance on the ITV chat show today to talk to the panel about her troubled childhood.
Kim revealed that she was “very young” when her father Terrence McKenzie touched her inappropriately.
When asked if the abuse was ever of a sexual nature, Kim responded: “Oh yes. He touched my naughty bits when he thought he’d get away with it.”
The 74-year-old felt unable to confide in her mother Mary at the time because they did not share a very “loving” relationship.
She explained: “I didn’t tell her. We didn’t talk about those things. She used to say to me: ‘If I’d have known what you would have been like, I would have sent you back’.”
The CBB contestant also admitted that her stepfather used to beat her when he was under the influence of alcohol.
She said: “I was abused for as long as I can remember. From when I was two and a half or three years old. We were war babies and lots of sad things happened at that time. You meet a young man and he’s going away to war and you think you’ll never see him again so sex takes place because it’s a time of desperation. That’s what happened with my mum – she got pregnant.
“My parents married but they divorced later on and two little girls were left with my mum. It’s sad. Both my parents abused me – my mum and dad.
“And then my stepdad. There were beatings and drunkenness. I could never understand why it was happening to me. They never laid a finger on my sister.”
Kim concluded: “It never leaves you. I am 74 now, but I have a great life. I often see lovely families when I’m out and think about how good the parents are.”
Loose Women continues on weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
