Katie Price is taking a break from Loose Women to work on her marriage
During today’s episode of Loose Women, Katie Price announced her decision to take a break from the show.
The Loose Women panellist explained that she will spend a month away from the ITV daytime show to have therapy with her husband Kieran Hayler, in order to resolve the emotional damage caused by his affair with her own best friend.
Katie told her fellow panellists that her “heart was shattered” after discovering the truth about Kieran’s affair two years ago, which took place whilst the former glamour model and reality television star was pregnant.
She told Nadia Sawalha, Kaye Adams and Linda Robson: “I thought I was over it but obviously it’s opened it up again, having to talk about it. I thought I dealt with it but when I look back I was concentrating on the babies and I was numb from when it all happened.”
Katie also described the difficult pressures of having to discuss her ordeal while promoting her new autobiography Reborn: “Whenever I was asked questions I was trying to bat them off with the good stuff, I’m quite good at putting up a defence but I just couldn’t do it with this. I was getting asked questions like, ‘The moment you saw them on the beach, what was it like?’. It’s something that I just don’t want to relive again, it’s something that’s been awful, torture. I haven’t got any more tears to cry, my heart is shattered, it’s broken, it’s nowhere near healed. I haven’t got no tears.”
The process has impacted negatively upon her husband as well: “It’s also been hard for Kieran, he’s changed in two-and-a-half years, he’s had his therapy, and then we’ve got the book out again and he’s having to relive what kind of person he was.”
The couple – who have two children, Jett and Bunny, together – are going to work through their struggles in therapy, and the 38-year-old star insists the professional help is more for reassurance than anything else.
Katie stated: “We are going to see a therapist to reassure us both that we’re fine, we’ve been through all of that so we can get through this. Throughout my life I’ve never sat down and spoke about it, I’m always, ‘It’s fine…’ .”
The star also took to Instagram this afternoon to announce her exit from the show to her followers:
This isn’t the end for the Loose Woman, however, and she will return to the panel soon after counselling.
