Holly Barton actress Sophie Powles quits Emmerdale
Sophie Powles has quit Emmerdale for the second time, just six months after her return to the soap in March.
According to reports in the Sun, the Holly Barton actress never intended for her return to be permanent and her final explosive scenes have already been filmed.
A source said: “Sophie has enjoyed returning as Holly but she never saw coming back as a full-time thing. So she’s back off into the real world again.
“She was looking at other roles after she was finished travelling, but Emmerdale asked her back and it seemed silly to turn it down, so she returned.
“She’s already filmed her final scenes which are being kept under wraps. Her leaving the show is seen as one of the big storylines of the next few months.”
Powles first joined the soap in 2009, when Holly arrived with the rest of her family to run Butler’s Farm. At first an ordinary young teenager, Holly later descended into drug use, dragging her family and friends down with her as she turned to lies and manipulation to get her fix.
Holly first departed the soap in 2012 after accepting a job in London as a trainee designer.
However, the character made an explosive return in March this year when she mistakenly stole Cain’s car while on the run from a demanding drug dealer.
There are no details yet on Powles’ second departure, but if the Holly’s character is anything to go by – we imagine it will cause quite a stir.
