Gladiators meets Love Island in “sexy new show” Ladiators
ITV is reportedly bringing audiences a version of Gladiators for the Love Island generation with a new show called Ladiators.
Yes, you read that correctly. According to The Sun, Ladiators will see contestants battle it out in true Gladiators style as they compete to become the “ultimate lad”.
We’re as confused as we are intrigued here.
The new gameshow will see the lad line-up compete in a series of fitness and stamina challenges alongside their girlfriends, and so be sure to expect deeps tans, oily bods and six-packs galore!
A show source said: “Gladiators was a huge hit back in the day so producers have constantly been finding ways they can bring it back in one form or another.
“Being a lad has almost become a bit of a business with reality TV stars like Joey Essex and Geordie Shore’s Gaz Beadle hailed as the ultimate lads. So TV producers wanted a tongue-in-cheek series that embraces lad culture.
“Ladiators will be a funny entertainment series and is certainly going to appeal to the Love Island fans as the couples appearing on the show will be very fit, sexy and have the stamina to take on the challenges.”
There is no confirmed host as of yet, but apparently ITV bosses are hoping to nab the likes of Vicky Pattison, Caroline Flack or Rochelle Humes to front the show.
Yesterday, the first 2017 Love Island hopeful was revealed: David Lundy. The personal trainer and fitness model will appear on this year’s instalment of the ITV2 dating series and apparently he did just about anything to get on the programme… including ditching his long-term girlfriend.
A friend of David’s ex explained: “They’ve been dating seriously for a couple of months. David was the one who asked Danielle to be his girlfriend and even told her that he loved her.
“He’s been going to auditions and speaking to producers behind her back. It’s awful. The women going on the show should know what he’s really like. It’s absolutely disgusting.”
Love Island will return soon to ITV2.
