Game of Thrones Star WILL Return in Season 6
Isaac Hempstead Wright has confirmed that he will return to filming Game of Thrones later this month following a year away from the hit fantasy drama.
Speaking about his return, Hempstead Wright told the Irish Examiner: “I can’t say a lot, but I am back this season and it’s going to get particularly interesting with Bran. He has some interesting visions.”
Hempstead Wright plays Bran Stark, the eldest living son of Ned Stark (Sean Bean) and Catlyn Stark (Michelle Fairley). After being pushed through a window following his discovery of the incestuous relations between the Lannister twins, Bran lost the use of his legs but has since developed an ability to ‘warg’ into his direwolf Summer. He is on the run after the Bolton family took family castle Winterfell, accompanied by stableboy Hodor (Kristian Nairn) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick). In the season four finale, the group were helped by a mythical Child of the Forest and taken to the Three Eyed Raven.
Their year off was forced by the fact Bran’s story had caught up with the A Song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R. Martin, on which the TV show is based.
Showrunner Benioff has explained however that despite the fact Bran has been offscreen for a whole season, his story has continued to progress and we will return to see Bran a few months on from where we left him.
Benioff said: “It would be far less interesting, after The Empire Strikes Back, to have an hour-long movie in between Empire and Return of the Jedi where Luke is training. It’s so much cooler to cut from the end of Empire to the beginning of Return, where he’s become the Jedi.”
