Former Step Brothers Will Ferrell & John C. Reilly reunite for Sherlock Holmes comedy
Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as Holmes and Watson? It’s happening. The comedy geniuses who brought us the classics Talladega Nights (2005) and Step Brothers (2008) are now reuniting for a new Sherlock Holmes caper, Holmes & Watson. Because we didn’t have enough Sherlock on film or TV already, right?
According to Deadline, Holmes & Watson is being developed by Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder, Get Hard), with Ferrell in the role of the super sleuth, and Reilly as his faithful right hand man, Watson.
So we can add this upcoming PG-13 comedy to the already extensive list of franchises based on the Arthur Conan Doyle property, which includes the Guy Ritchie-directed Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, the CBS series Elementary with Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu, and of course our personal favourite BBC series with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, Sherlock. Phew!
Nevertheless, we can never get enough of Sherlock and Watson, or Ferrell and Reilly, so we’re looking forward to the new movie – which is going into production later this year – when it drops.
