Emilia Clarke teases Daenerys’ invasion of Westeros in new BTS video
Those fans who were skeptical that Daenerys Targaryen would reach Westeros in season six of Game of Thrones can breathe a sigh of relief.
Emilia Clarke has posted a behind-the-scenes Instagram video on set in Northern Ireland, complete with her Targaryen blonde locks. It seems safe to assume that the naysayers were wrong. Dany probably won’t be doubling back to Essos, or spending the entirety of her season at sea – she will finally be back to her conquering best (we hope) in Westeros. Hopefully she can teach Cersei Lannister a thing or two!
In the video, Clarke is attempting to withstand this high winds of Northern Ireland. She later confessed in writing that she fell over after all.
She wrote: “And then I fell over. Or rather a brisk 50mph N.Irish wind caught me unawares…. #gameofhowtostanduprightinagaleforcewind #atleasttheviewmsdeitallworthiteh #bitoftailwinddoesnicleyonadragonridethough.”
It’s understandable that Clarke may be having difficulty filming in the tough Northern Irish conditions, having spent the entire series so far doing her outdoor scenes in sunnier climates such as Spain and Morocco.
Her character, Daenerys Targaryen, was exiled as a baby from her homeland of Westeros after her royal family was overthrown. She has spent the last six seasons planning an invasion of the Seven Kingdoms and gathering an army, in order to retain her rightful place on the Iron Throne. It now looks like she might finally achieve her dream in season seven.
Unfortunately, we won’t know for sure until next summer when Game of Thrones returns to our screens.
