Ed Sheeran Lands FX Acting Gig
Ed Sheeran has landed a recurring role in new FX drama The Bastard Executioner.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, The Bastard Executioner is a new medieval drama from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. It is about a warrior who hangs up his sword to become a journeyman executioner following divine intervention. In the 14th century epic, Sheeran will play Sir Cormac, a power-hungry and dangerous protege of a powerful church elder.
Sheeran has collaborated with Sutter before, recording a cover of Foy Vance’s “Make It Rain” for Sons of Anarchy. His new role as Sir Cormac will be his first recurring acting gig.
The news comes after a busy year for the chart-topping musician, who last year released the chart topping album x and became iTunes biggest selling musician in the UK. In 2015, he has been performing a world tour.
The Bastard Executioner is currently filming in the UK. There is no word yet on when it will air on FX.
