EastEnders fans devastated as Whitney Dean suffers shock miscarriage
EastEnders fans have been left devastated after series regular Whitney Dean suffered a shock miscarriage in scenes broadcast Monday (October 10).
The storyline, which was not announced in advance by bosses, saw Whitney rushed to hospital after experiencing cramps and irregular bleeding. Whitney’s husband-to-be Lee Carter rushed to be at her side, but to little avail. The pair were later told after an ultrasound that no heartbeat could be found for the baby, in absolutely heartbreaking scenes.
EastEnders fans immediately took to social media to express their dismay at the turn of events and praise Whitney actor Shona McGarty and Lee actor Danny-Boy Hatchard.

Fans have already suggested that Whitney losing the baby may facilitate Danny-Boy Hatchard’s exit from the show, after it was revealed Hatchard would be leaving EastEnders last August. The character of Lee has recently overcome depression on the soap, and fans now fear he may slip back into its hold.
Kellie Bright, who portrays Lee’s mother Linda, will also be departing for maternity leave in scenes expected to tie in with Lee’s exit.
It looks like the future only holds more misery for poor Whitney Dean.
