What is Disney + and how can I start watching?
Disney’s answer to television streaming is finally arriving in the UK.
The age of video streaming is well and truly here, with big names Netflix, Amazon Prime and Now TV dominating the market.
Disney+ offers acclaimed original new series, nostalgic classics plus content from partners including Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Fox and National Geographic.
What is Disney+?
First premiering in the US in November 2019, Disney+ is a new video on demand platform owned by Disney. Disney+ features both original new content exclusive to the platform, as well as some of Disney’s classic back catalogue.
When will Disney+ launch in the UK?
Disney+ will launch in the UK on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. It will also launch in Germany, France, Italy and Spain on the same date.
This follows launches in America, Canada, the Netherlands, Australia and New Zealand.
How much does it cost?
Disney+ will cost either £5.99 a month or £59.99 a year, following a seven day free trial.
However, until Monday, March 23, Disney is offering £10 off its annual price, making the total for the first year only £49.99. This brings the total per month down by almost a third, to £4.17 per month.

How can I sign up for Disney+?
Streaming begins on March 24, but you can already pre-order the streaming service for the discount price now.
What platforms will Disney+ be available on?
Disney+ will be available on iOS, Android, Google Chromecast, Roku, Playstation, Xbox One and Smart TVs.
Subscribers will be able to watch Disney+ on four screens simultaneously.
What original shows are available on Disney+?
This is the fun part. The acclaimed new Star Wars live action series The Mandalorian will launch exclusively on Disney+ in the UK. Set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi and 25 years prior to the events of The Force Awakens, The Mandalorian follows the adventures of Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal), a Mandalorian bounty hunter.
Other new content includes a Lady and the Tramp live action remake, new Toy Story and High School Musical spin-offs and a new National Geographic series led by Jeff Goldblum, titled The World According to Jeff Goldblum.
There’s also heaps more to come, including Disney’s new collaborations with Marvel and three new Star Wars series. These include a new series all about Tom Hiddleston’s troublesome Loki, the return of Anthony Mackie as Falcon in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and the upcoming Obi Wan Kenobi series starring Ewan McGregor.
What classic films are available on Disney+?
The Walt Disney Signature Collection will be available day of launch, which includes plenty of big names such as Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. More beloved animated films and series will roll out in the new year, which leaves lots to look forward to.
