Celebrity Masterchef 2016 line-up revealed: meet the celeb cooks
Celebrity Masterchef is back – just as you were thinking you didn’t have enough Masterchef in your lives! 2016’s celebrity edition of the high-pressured cooking show is set to air later this year on BBC One and we finally have a full line-up to share with you.
These 20 celebrities will be competing in tough challenges across six weeks including the traditional Mystery Box Test, catering at venues like the Emirates Stadium and preparing a five-course dinner for Chelsea Pensioners.
Without further ado, let’s meet the culinary contestants:
One half of comedy duo Cannon and Ball, here’s hoping that Tommy won’t be needing anyone to help him cook.
Best known for her Essex roots, this TOWIE beauty has most recently been seen flying down the slopes in 2014’s The Jump.
Crazy horses couldn’t hold Jimmy back from appearing on Masterchef. As the youngest member of pop sensations “The Osmonds”, Jimmy is used to a bit of competition.
Amelle is a chart-topping pop star who made it big when she replaced Mutya Buena in girl group “Sugababes”. She is the first and only member to have had a number one single outside of the group.
This Russian stallion made his debut on Strictly Come Dancing last year when he was partnered with television presenter Anita Rani. He has also appeared on the US, Australian and Russian versions of Dancing with the Stars.
Best known as “Big Mo” in Eastenders Laila is a lady of many talents and has even begun performing DJ sets at nightclubs across the UK. Let’s hope cooking is a hidden talent of hers too!
Another classic Eastenders cast member, Sid played long-suffering Ricky Butcher. Sid has also taken part in Strictly Come Dancing and was a contestant on last year’s injury-riddled series, The Jump.
Actress and presenter, Donna has had a hugely varied career. At the age of 10 she starred in Byker Grove, at 15 she toured the world in pop group “Crush”, before returning to the UK to host MTV Select. Since then Donna has presented a number of shows as well as acting in successful TV dramas Hollyoaks and Hotel Babylon.
Best known as one quarter of boyband, “Blue”, Webbe has had five UK top 40 singles with the pop group. Simon appeared on the Christmas special of Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 before coming second in the twelfth series of the show in 2014… (there’s a bit of a theme going on with these contestants).
Perhaps Tina’s loud-mouthed, brash Shameless character, Mimi Maguire, would be able to put John and Greg in their places but we’ll have to see if she manages it herself.
There aren’t many people you can name as a journalist, musician and priest all in the same sentence. Coles was in the 80s pop group “The Communards” but after studying for a BA in Theology, he was selected for priesthood training and was ordained in 2005.
Whether she’s better known for her pop songs or for being Simon Cowell’s right-hand lady, we’re not sure, but this lady loves her fair share of reality shows having previously appeared on I’m a Celeb, The Jump and, of course, The X Factor.
This is one for the kids. Marcus is an internet sensation with over 4 million subscribers to his YouTube channel. Butler is a social media mogul with a combined following of over 5 million people on Instagram and Twitter.
Paralympian Liz has won countless medals in her swimming career including gold at Beijing, silver at Athens and bronze at London 2012.
Learning hustling from an early age, his father was a thief and conman which may account for Alexis’ six-year run on The Real Hustle. He won’t be able to fool the judges with his cooking though!
Louise is a journalist and broadcaster who can most often be seen bringing us the morning stories on BBC Breakfast. Let’s hope she can rustle up some lunch and dinner too.
Audley is putting down his gloves and picking up an apron for Masterchef. The former boxer was the first to win a gold in the super heavyweight division for Great Britain.
If you’ve ever tuned into BBC Three then you’ll most likely have caught one of Cherry’s documentaries. Often self-titled, Cherry has explored the worlds of marriage, cosmetic surgery, drinking and much more.
Harper can often be seen rummaging through antiques on Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic and The Antiques Road Show.
Former international rugby union star, Neil has captained for both Leicester and England. In his career he has played in three World Cups, finally winning in 2003.
