Celebrity Big Brother contestant accused of “casual homophobia” after last night’s show
Only two episodes in, the controversy has already begun on Celebrity Big Brother after one contestant made what have been considered “homophobic” remarks.
Last night’s second instalment of CBB recapped the events of Tuesday’s live launch, in which fourteen celebrities entered the house for an All Stars v New Stars series.
The housemates may have only just arrived but they have already created a backlash amongst viewers at home.
The episode saw former American X Factor contestant Stacy Francis refer to Austin Armacost as “the gay boy” when suggesting that the other male contestants would not want to share a bed with him.
During a conversation in the smoking area, Stacy said: “So [Ray J] didn’t want to sleep with Brandon [Block]? But he will sleep with a gay boy? The boy that wants to… the gay boy.
“Isn’t Austin gay? So [Ray J] is okay with that?”
Clearly sensing the uncomfortable atmosphere amongst her fellow housemates, Stacy then backtracked by claiming that she was simply “being sarcastic.”
She added: “Everyone is so serious, oh my God.”
Many viewers watching took offence to Stacy’s remarks and went to Twitter to vent their complaints:

Lost a lot of respect for Stacy. Referring to Austin as ‘the gay boy’? The guy has a name and shouldn’t be defined by sexuality😠😑😔 #CBB

Stacy did not receive any warning for her comments during the show, although perhaps the viewer backlash will cause Big Brother to pull her up on these remarks in tonight’s episode.
Celebrity Big Brother continues nightly at 9pm on Channel 5.
