Carrie Coon to star in Fargo series three
Carrie Coon will star opposite Ewan McGregor as Fargo series three’s female lead.
Coon will play Gloria Burgle in the thrilling anthology series. Burgle is the chief of police in Edna Valley and is not the type to lose her head in a chaotic situation. She is recently divorced, and beginning to navigate her way in a world where relationships are played out more intimately on phones than face-to-face.
Coon is best known for her role in The Leftovers, where she portrayed Nora Durst – a grieving wife and mother who has lost all she has in an apocalypse-style event. She received a Critics’ Choice Television Award for her performance. Coon also appeared in Gone Girl and won a Tony Award for her performance in the 2012 revival of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
She will lead the cast alongside the already announced Ewan McGregor as brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. Emmit is described as a successful real estate mogul and family man. His younger brother Ray is less successful, misses his glory days at high school and blames his brother for his misfortune.
The upcoming series is rumoured to be set in 2010, following the events of Fargo‘s stunning first season. However, no characters from previous seasons will appear.
