Angelina Jolie finally breaks silence on her divorce from Brad Pitt
Angelina Jolie has spoken out about the difficulties she and her family have faced during her divorce from Brad Pitt.
The 41-year-old actress appeared on BBC World News this morning to discuss her new film First They Killed My Father; a piece based on the genocide in Cambodia.
Speaking about two of the movie’s major themes – family and loss – the topic soon turned onto Angelina’s recent divorce from husband Brad Pitt.
Angelina split from the Hollywood star during September 2016 after 12 years of being together, and the actress confessed that the separation has been a “very difficult time” for her entire family.
“And we will get through this time and hopefully be a stronger family for it.”
BBC journalist Yalda Hakim proceeded to ask the star how she personally was coping with the ordeal, to which Angelina replied:
“Many, many people find themselves in this situation.
“My whole family have all been through a difficult time. My focus is my children, our children and my focus is finding this way through.
“We are and forever will be a family and so that is how I am coping.
“I am coping with finding a way through to make sure that this somehow makes us stronger and closer.”
The interview closed with a discussion of where Angelina would see herself in five years time:
“Five years time, I would like to be travelling around the world visiting my children, hoping that they’re just happy and doing really interesting things.”
